1. The service
TypeTranslate ("we", "the service") is a free tool for practising languages by typing books alongside their translations. It is run by Beton Company LLC.
2. Accounts
You can use TypeTranslate without an account. If you sign in with Google, you are responsible for what happens under your account. We may suspend accounts that break these terms.
3. Books you upload
- Only upload books you have the right to use, such as books in the public domain or files you own for personal use.
- Uploaded books are stored privately in your account and are never shown to anyone else.
- There are limits: 5 MB per file and 5 stored files per account.
- You keep all rights to your files. You allow us to store and process them only to run the service for you.
4. Books from public libraries
Books in Popular books and Search come from Project Gutenberg, Wikisource, Wolne Lektury, Litteraturbanken and Ebooks libres et gratuits. They are in the public domain in the United States or published under their libraries' licences. Translations can still be under copyright in other countries, and you are responsible for checking the law where you live. "Project Gutenberg" is a trademark of the Project Gutenberg Literary Archive Foundation; the texts here are offered without its licence header and are not endorsed by it.
5. Acceptable use
Don't misuse the service. In particular, don't:
- use it to store or share content that is illegal or infringes someone else's rights;
- overload it, for example by scraping or automated bulk downloading;
- try to access other people's accounts or data, or get around our limits and security.
6. Translations and alignment
Word translations come from an automatic service and the matching of sentences between books is automatic too. Both can be wrong. TypeTranslate is a practice tool, not a reference.
7. Availability and changes
We provide TypeTranslate as it is and as available, and may change, pause or stop it, or any feature, at any time. We'll try to give notice before removing anything you rely on, such as your stored books.
8. Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses or for lost data, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us, which is zero. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer.
9. Ending
You can stop using TypeTranslate at any time and ask us to delete your account (see the privacy policy). We may end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version; if a change matters, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
