Language practice with real books

Learn a language by typing the books you love.

Read a sentence in a language you know, type it in the one you're learning. Grammar, spelling and new words stick when they come from a story you want to finish.

An open book: an English sentence on one page, its German translation being typed on the other

How it works

  2. Choose your languagesThe one you read is your guide; the one you type is your practice.
  3. Type, sentence by sentenceSee mistakes as you make them, click a word for its translation, and stop whenever you like.

Why typing works

You notice everything when you have to type it.

Reading a translation, your eyes skim past the article, the ending, the accent. Typing it, you can't: every letter goes through your fingers, so the details that make a language feel foreign become familiar, one sentence at a time.

Because you always see the sentence in a language you know, you never stop to look things up. You stay in the story, and the story keeps you going for chapters, not minutes.

Our popular books are lined up sentence by sentence with a multilingual language model, so the sentence you read is the one you type, even when the translator split it in two.
